Renaming BiteSMS to Messages Cydia

THIS REQUIRES YOUR IPHONE TO BE JAILBROKEN

Renaming BiteSMS to “Messages” or whatever you would like to call it.

Step 1.
Use a file explorer such as iTools (Windows/Mac) or use the cydia tweak iFile to access your filesystem.

Step 2.
Goto the directory: /private/var/stash/

Step 3.
At this point there’s going to be a few random named directory’s, what you want to do is go into each directory till you find the one named “Applications” go into that.

Step 4.
Goto the biteSMS.app folder then your language.lproj folder (In my case English.lproj)

Step 5.
Modify the biteSMS.strings and scroll all the way to the bottom, about 10-20 lines up there will be a

<key>biteSMS</key>
<string>biteSMS</string>

You now want to change the biteSMS to whatever you would like. In my case I wanted it to display Messages so as a result my file looks like this:

<key>biteSMS</key>
<string>Messages</string>

Step 6.
You will now need to “Respring” the device in order for the changes to take effect (Restarting also works). Depending on your jailbreak you may already have a Cydia tweak that has an option to “Respring”. If not “Push to respring” works great.

Fix for using flash in SWware Iron browser

If you are having trouble using Adobe Flash in Iron this solution has fixed my issues.

You must install flash in Chrome or firefox as we need to obtain a file this installs.

1. Create a “Plugins” folder in the SRWare Iron folder in Program Files (C:\Program Files (X86)\SRWare Iron\)
2. Goto: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and copy the file starting with: NPSWF64xxxxxxxxxx.dll (x will interpret numbers).
3. Paste the file in (C:\Program Files (X86)\SRWare Iron\Plugins
4. Reload your browser.

Trimming a video on your iPhone

I have noticed since updating to iOS7 that Apple have not made it easy to figure out how you can edit/trim a video without another app but there is a way without the need for another app.

First goto your Photos App and click once into the video you wish to edit.

You now want to hold your finger in the location the red circle has highlighted like so:

If you are holding your finger in the right place the video timeline should now change to yellow like this:

You can now trim your video to the bit you want by simply holding down your finger on the left or right yellow arrows and moving them to the selection of the video you want.

When your finished and your ready to save your selection, simply hit the “Trim” button up the top right

You should now have a little popup at the bottom of your phone prompting you with two options

You can now simply choose to either save the selection as a new clip or to overwrite the existing video. I recommend saving as a new video file to avoid overwriting the original.
